To enhance our learning and teaching effectiveness, we have developed our school-based English curriculum. Students are able to learn the skills from Reading to Writing. In order to build our students’ confidence in English, we encourage students to join different activities and competitions.
The primary 1 reading and phonics lessons comprised of a holistic programme of songs, chants with kinaesthetic elements, basic high frequency words of English, learning-to-read strategies and home reading books, focused teaching of letter sounds via word and sentence-level books and exercises as well as new blending aids to support individual learning.
Writing Portfolios are designed by English teachers for each level. Students are required to develop the skills of self-editing, peer editing of their writing tasks in order to establish their self-evaluation skills through vary kinds of activities.
To raise students’ reading standard. At least half of students have increased their reading abilities. Levelling will take place twice a year to assess different level groups by NET and local teachers.
